古くから織物の町として発展してきた群馬県桐生市。SALLY LABORATORYは、桐生市にある小さなアトリエです。デザイナーのSALLYと、パターンと縫製を手がけるNAMI。「LABORATORY」は試作、観察、挑戦、発見を繰り返す、ものづくりのプロセスそのものを大切にしたいという、わたしたちの姿勢の象徴です。2人の手で、布と糸と対話を重ねながら、「思い」を形にしています。東京から桐生へ。大きな流れの中で、服作りに関わっていた、東京での日々。そんな中、桐生の布と出会い、たくさんの人々の「思い」に触れた。わたしたちの「思い」にも。心から紡ぎたい表現を求め、桐生へ。「思い」を見つめ直すために。「思い」を形にするために。自然豊かな織物の町で、1点1点を大切に作り続けます。Kiryu,Gunmaーa city with a long history oftextile craftsmanship.SALLY LABORATORY is a small atelier basedin this quiet weaving town.Founded by designer SALLY andpatternmaker/seamstress NAMI, we work withfabric and thread,shaping each garment throughhands-on dialogue.Our name,LABORATORY, reflects ourapproach to making:a constant process ofprototyping,observing,challenging,and discovering.Together,we transform thought andemotions into form.From Tokyo to Kiryu.in Tokyo,we worked within the fast-movingworld of fashion.But everything changed the day weencountered Kiryu's fabricsー and the manyheartfelt intentions behind them.Seeking to express something honest,we chose this place to begin again.To revisit our thoughts.To give them form.in this nature-rich town of looms and light,we continue to craft each one-of-a-kind piece,with care and quiet will.
